    Things to Know

*Kindergarten Briefcase: a gallon-sized Ziploc bag with your child's name on it that your child uses to carry work to and from school each day.
Please make sure you send it with your child each morning.  If your child is not in a before or after school program and does not ride a bus, there is no need for a backpack, unless you find it to be helpful for your family.

*Weekly Bulletin: Please be sure to read the Weekly Bulletin sent home each Monday.

    *Homework:
    1. Weekly Booklist - Sent home each Monday and returned by following Friday.
    2. Communication Journal - Read Mrs. Brock's message to your child.  Write down your child's response and a new question for Mrs. Brock.  Your child draws their answer. (beginning after Back-to-School Night)
    3. Occasional Math Practice (beginning after Back-to-School Night)
    4. Daily Flashcards - Cut out the flashcards sent home each week and study daily.  Save these in the "Things My Brain Needs to Know" envelope. You may throw away cards when they are way too easy. (beginning after Back-to-School Night)

*Snack & Lunch: We take a snack and recess break at 10:40 each day.  Students may eat a snack you send with them or the snack I will pass out.  Snack donations are much appreciated!  Suggested snacks for the class are Goldfish, Cheez-Its, graham crackers, animal crackers, pretzels, and fruit snacks.  There is no refrigeration available for snacks.   Lunch is at 12:10 each day.  Students may bring a lunch from home or buy from the cafeteria for $2.50.  Please prepay in the office or by sending money in an envelope with your child's name on it.  Applications for a free or reduced cost lunch can be found in the office as well.

*Rainy/Cold Days: If it is rainy, wet, or unusually cold in the morning, and there is no adult in the drop-off area, your student will go into Room 11, right next to the drop-off area.

*Volunteers: Parents and guardians are welcome to volunteer any time after the first 2 weeks of school.  We can benefit from a volunteer every morning 9:30-10:40 to help rotations run smoothly (while I work with small groups) and do additional practice with children.  If 9:30-10:40 does not work for you, we also appreciate volunteers at other times of day. Volunteers must fill out a volunteer application in the office and show picture ID each time they check in to volunteer.  Please contact me if you would like more information.
