• Meet the Teacher Profile
My name is James Villegas, but my musicians call me Mr. V.  I've been teaching here at Spring Valley Academy since 2008 and I can tell you, it's never a dull moment.  I love teaching band and we work hard, play hard and learn lots!
I graduated from Pepperdine University in Malibu on a full ride scholarship thanks to my excellent musicianship.  Then I did did masters work at the University of Western Washington and even attended Missouri Western State College in the Central Plains, a true hot bed of marching and musical excellence.  My teaching experience includes middle school bands in Vancouver and Bellingham, Washington and I even taught Music Appreciation in Coronado, San Diego

For fun I enjoy being a foodie ( I once taught cooking at Coronado and Mt. Helix adult schools) and I collect antique musical instruments and toy ray guns.  In the summer I like to go boating in the San Juan Islands and often hike from Canada to the USA.

The best place and time to contact me is here at SVA.  The Band office number is (619) 668-5750, extension 3101 or you can email me at james.villegas@lmsvschools.org
Other Interesting Facts and Rumors:  I'm a trombone player, but I'm doing the best I can.  Seriously though, my trombone paid for my college education, your instrument can pay for yours too!  Oh, and I was an artilleryman and played for years in a military band.  I once played in a band for the British Royals including Lady Di, and once for President Reagan.
