"The only valid reason to assess is to
determine what to do next."
—W. Edwards DemingSigned into law in October 2013, Assembly Bill 484 established the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) assessment system. For the 2015 - 16 school year, the CAASPP assessment system encompasses the following required assessments:
- Smarter Balanced system of assessments for mathematics and English-language arts
- California Standards Tests (CST) for Science in grades five, eight, and ten
- California Modified Assessment (CMA) for Science in grades five, eight, and ten
- California Alternate Assessment (CAA) for Science in grades five, eight, and ten
The links and resources to the right provide additional information about the new Smarter Balanced system of assessments and the Student Score Report that will be mailed home in August 2015. Help your children prepare for testing— Parents can help by making sure their children attend school on testing dates (unless ill) and by sending them to school on time, with a good breakfast, a calm morning at home, and a good night’s rest.
