    All of these programs and activities are paid for, organized and staffed by Lemon Avenue PTA!
    Academic Bowl
    The Academic Bowl offers a fun game-show type event for students in grades 4-6. Students work independently and at an Academic Bowl Club during a few recesses. Students who complete all three packets qualify to compete in this fun quizzing format. This is an enjoyable event for any student who wishes to be involved. All are welcome.     After School Enrichment
    The After School Enrichment program offers a variety of extracurricular experiences. Held primarily on Tuesdays, the programs include art, science, dance, drama, karate, sports, keyboarding and chess. Each program offered goes through a rigorous approval process at the school and district level. All program staff are insured and have completed thorough background checks. The classes are offered on a rotating basis. Registration and program information will come home in the Friday Folders and is available online. Scholarships are available.     Art Docent Program
    The Art Docent Program infuses art into our educational program. Each classroom has a volunteer Art Docent who works with the Art Docent Coordinator to implement lessons including art history, art appreciation and lots of hands on fun. Art docents do not need an art background, just an interest in exposing students to art. Art docents are provided with lessons, materials and support.     Back to School Night
    This evening is an opportunity for parents to meet their child’s teacher, learn daily schedules, discuss homework policy and review teacher expectations and discipline plans. Individual conferences are not scheduled for this time. Parents are asked to attend without children. A PTA Association meeting, Principal Welcome and Volunteer Fair, highlighting school volunteer opportunities, will take place on this evening. Please visit the PTA Booth.
    Book Exchange
    At the monthly Book Exchange, students have the opportunity to swap gently used books. Students who donate books earn book credits for the exchange. For information, contact Beth Shiff (bagleybeth@hotmail.com).
    Book Fair
    Held twice a year, our Scholastic Book Fairs are always successes. The Fall Fair earns money for the PTA and book credits for the library and classes. Our Spring Fair is a Buy One, Get One Free event. Students visit the Fair with their classes, and the Fair is open before and after school. Add to your home library and support our school.     A family tradition at Lemon Avenue, our Carnival is also a major PTA fundraising event. A giant extravaganza of costumes, games, food, prizes and fun for the entire family, don’t miss this chance to come together as a community. From classroom-sponsored booths to themed photo opportunities, from our silent auction to our famous haunted house and fun cake walk . . . There is something for everyone to enjoy.     Cultural Arts Assemblies
    PTA sponsors a variety of cultural arts assemblies throughout the school year. Our students are exposed to a wide range of cultural experiences including music, visual arts, science, math, magic, athletic performance, folk dancing and singing.     Field Trips
    Shrinking budgets mean less funding to our school, and the PTA makes a major contribution to our kids’ education by paying for the bus transportation for class field trips. This year each class was gifted $200 toward a field trip. You are directly supporting this effort when you support PTA fundraising. These field trips would not happen without the PTA. Contact your child's teacher about this year's field trip.
    Founders Day and Honorary Service Awards
    PTA was founded in 1897 to raise the standard of living for all children. On Founders Day each year, we recognize the many volunteers who make the PTA organization great. By inviting back past PTA presidents and award winners, we remember the past and salute the future. We also host the Honorary Service Awards, recognizing Lemon Avenue volunteers who go above and beyond to contribute to our school community. This year, Founders Day will be held along with the Volunteer Appreciation Tea the first week of June. For more information, contact Lori Hamblen (lhamblen33@gmail.com).
    Fun Run
    A great school spirit event, families will have the opportunity this year to raise money for a designated cause at Lemon Avenue.     Garden Docent Program
    The Garden Docent Program brings students to the garden and provides a laboratory to develop hands-on activities. Each classroom has a volunteer docent, who leads the lessons in the garden. The emphasis is to enhance the classroom curriculum and promote the natural sciences. The curriculum and supplies are provided and paid for by PTA.     Holiday Workshop
    A fun-filled evening, this free event is hosted each year by the PTA. Families are invited to enjoy treats and make a variety of holiday crafts to decorate their homes or give as gifts. Families also are entertained by Lemon Avenue students singing holiday songs. For more info, contact Shannon Teeney (m.lawrence2@cox.net).
    Our FREE Welcome Back Picnic is a hospitality event, welcoming families and staff back to school. This committee puts together refreshments at many events and hosts Staff Appreciation Week in the spring.     Leopard D.A.D.S.
    Lemon Avenue Leopard D.A.D.S. is a group of dedicated male role models assisting in providing the safe environment our kids need to develop into well rounded citizens. We value the education that our kids need and volunteer our time to ensure a safe and secure atmosphere for them to enjoy learning. Through a mutual understanding between the staff and parents of Lemon Avenue Elementary, we will bring a positive attitude to the school and work diligently to Defend Against Distractions in our School. Leopard D.A.D.S. is always looking for dedicated male role models to share some of their time with the kids at our school. Whether it be in class or around campus we appreciate the commitment from all of our volunteers.     Olympic Field Day
    In the true spirit of the Olympic Games, our Olympic Field Day is held in June.  Prior to the event, classes choose a country to study and represent during the Games. The school is decorated with an international flair, and guest speakers are invited to talk to the children about the Olympic spirit.     Open House
    In May, Lemon Avenue families are invited to their students’ classrooms to check out their work. Open House is a chance to see the wonderful writing, art and other projects. Contact anyone from the PTA Executive Board for more information
    Parent's Night Out
    This is a new fundraiser for 2018-2019. PTA will be holding a Parent’s Night Out with food, music, & Silent Auction. Show your support for Lemon Ave PTA, our teachers and our students all while mingling with friends, meeting other parents and having a great time! Admission cost will include wonderful food, tons of fun and entertainment and the opportunity to bid on wonderful class baskets and silent auction items.     Red Ribbon Week
    The purpose of Red Ribbon Week is to present a united and visible commitment toward creating a Drug-Free America. Students in our school participate in classroom activities and campus events to encourage healthy drug-free living. A fabulous assembly is scheduled for the week to show the kids the amazing things that can be done when they live a drug-free life. For more information, contact Jaci Holland (jaciholland@gmail.com).
    Reflections Art Show
    Reflections, a national PTA event, provides opportunities for students to express themselves through the arts. The categories of Literature, Music, Dance, Photography and Visual Arts are judged on originality, creativity, merit and interpretation of the theme. An evening show is held to highlight the entries and winning entries move onto higher levels across the county and state. Shannon Tenney (m.lawrence2@cox.net) is coordinating this program.
    Silent Auction
    A major fundraiser for our school, the Silent Auction is a favorite of Lemon Avenue families. The Silent Auction features themed baskets donated by classrooms, excursions, entertainment, restaurants and so much more. All proceeds from this event go to fund important PTA programs. All families are encouraged to attend and donate. New this year, the Silent Auction will be held at our Parents Night Out event (details to follow soon).     Tuesday Toils
    Tuesday Toils is a workshop held each Tuesday from 8:00 – 10:00 a.m. in the office work room. Volunteers help our teachers by copying, folding, stuffing, cutting, sorting and stapling. This is a great way to get involved if you have limited time. Small children are welcome; you can take projects to the auditorium to work on them.     Variety Show
    A much-anticipated event for 4th – 6th graders, the Variety Show is a highlight of the year. Student-prepared acts, including music, dance, comedy and athletics, make for an unforgettable night. Practices are held prior to the show, and all acts are approved by the Principal and show coordinator. If you are interested in this program, PTA is looking for a volunteer to lead it!     Walk n Roll to School
    To promote physical activity on Wednesdays students who walk or ride their bike to school will receive prizes and be entered in the raffle to win a scooter and helmet at the end of the school year.
