Retirement Early Tell Incentive
Today, the district and the La Mesa-Spring Valley Teachers Association reached an agreement for a Retirement Early Tell Incentive.
The following is the language in the agreed upon side letter:
The district agrees to offer a one-time incentive of $3,500 to each bargaining unit member who submits a non-rescindable letter of resignation due to retirement, effective June 14, 2019, as long as a minimum of twenty (20) are received by February 15, 2019 at 4:45 p.m. Payment will be reflected on the first available paycheck.
If the minimum of twenty (20) are not received by February 15, 2019, no incentive will be given and all retirement letters will be shredded by the Association.
This side letter sunsets immediately after 4:45 p.m. on February 15, 2019, if the minimum number of 20 is not met. If the minimum number is met, this letter sunsets once all incentives are paid.”
Contract Revisions and Updates
The team also met to update outdated information from the contract (for example, language about No Child Left Behind, etc.) and to update the contract with the new language that was agreed upon in bargaining last year.
Next Steps
We will meet again in the spring.
Until next time,
