Retirement Early Tell Incentive
The district and the La Mesa-Spring Valley Teachers Association reached an agreement for a Retirement Early Tell Incentive.
The following is the language in the agreed upon side letter:
The district agrees to offer a one-time incentive of $3,500 to each bargaining unit member who submits a non-rescindable letter of resignation due to retirement, effective June 17, 2020, as long as a minimum of fifteen (15) are received by January 24, 2020 at 4:45 p.m. Payment will be reflected on the first available paycheck.
If the minimum of fifteen (15) are not received by January 24, 2020, no incentive will be given and all retirement letters will be returned to the employees.
This side letter sunsets immediately after 4:45 p.m. on January 24, 2020, if the minimum number of 15 is not met. If the minimum number is met, this letter sunsets once all incentives are paid.”
Calendar
We agreed on a calendar for the 2020-2021 school year that will soon be shared by the LMSVTA for ratification.
We developed two different options of the calendar for 2021-2022 that will be brought by LMSVTA to teachers via survey for feedback.
Contract Revisions and Updates
Deann Ragsdale participated in the review and revision of the SAI MOU with our team. We expect to finalize the changes at our next meeting. Article 10 for Safety was also reviewed and we discussed language to be updated.
Next Steps
As was shared in an email earlier this week, “In the spirit of moving toward a Collaborative Bargaining process, we have been working with a consultant (free of charge!) and will be spending two days next week training with the District bargaining team. We will be sharing our progress with you along the way.”
Until next time,
