Certificated Bargaining Update

The district and the La Mesa-Spring Valley Teachers Association (LMSVTA) met on October 30, 2019. This time, the teams agreed to provide separate communications so that the LMSVTA may provide more specifics about the ratification timeframe. The following items were discussed:

Norms and Ground Rules
The district and LMSVTA reviewed previously discussed norms and ground rules. We reached final agreement on the norms with the hope that they will
positively guide our time together and help us successfully complete negotiations.

2020-2021 & 2021-2022 Calendars
We reached a tentative agreement on the 2021-2022 calendar. This calendar, and the 2020-2021 calendar, will be presented to LMSVTA members for
ratification in the near future. Both calendars include a two-week fall break.

Article 10 – Safety Conditions
The teams discussed the current safety article and the need for substantive revisions in light of the current safety challenges of most concern to unit
members. LMSVTA agreed to present a written proposal that will be considered at the next session.

Article 11 – Association Rights
The teams reached another tentative agreement on association rights issues, including unit member information that the district will regularly provide
to LMSVTA, and LMSVTA’s right to access and participate in employee orientations.

Next Steps
Our next session is calendared for December 9, 2019. We will have follow up conversations on Article 10-Safety Conditions.
