The District and the La Mesa-Spring Valley Teachers Association met for bargaining on December 9, 2019, and would like to share the following joint communication:
LEEP Update: The session began with a presentation from Emily Scheitlin. She reviewed the new pilot for certificated evaluations: LEEP (Leading Effective Educator Practice). LEEP is a growth model designed to improve student learning and improve professional learning for certificated employees at all experience levels. Emily shared that we are meeting with teachers for a second pilot training this month and hope to finish the pilot in February. We will use this experience to guide our negotiations for future contract language.
Article 10 – Safety – We reviewed Article 10 and are in the process of writing new language to address current issues being faced by unit members and all employees in the area of safety. If you have questions, please reach out to a bargaining team member for information.
Sunshine Letters – We agreed to present initial proposals to the governing board in the spring for the successor agreement.
