Curbside meal pickup is changing to Mondays only
Meal information: January 2021
Starting January 11, 2021, we will be providing a 7-day grocery/meal pack every Monday (excluding holidays). Pickup times remain 11AM – 1PM.
Any child between the ages of 2 to 18 years old is eligible to receive a grocery pack. Children do not need to be enrolled in the La Mesa-Spring Valley school district, and children do not need to be present to receive a grocery pack.
Grocery packs are available at all school sites except: Fletcher Hills; Lemon Ave.; Murdock; Northmont Elementary. If your child attends one of these schools, please visit another site for pickup.

Meal Distribution FAQs
What: We will be distributing family grocery packs with bulk items for 7 days of meals. We will distribute one grocery pack per child.
When: Distribution will be on Mondays only, unless Monday is a holiday. If that is the case we will serve on the Tuesday after the holiday.
Who is eligible to receive a grocery pack?
Any child between the ages of 2 to 18 years old is eligible to receive a grocery pack. Children do not need to be enrolled in the La Mesa-Spring Valley school district, and children do not need to be present to receive a grocery pack. Family income requirements are waived at this time, so anyone regardless of their annual family income level, is eligible to receive a grocery pack.
Can I take a grocery pack to children in need?
Any one (teacher, principal, district employees, parent/guardian, community members) can request a bag from any Child Nutrition kitchen if they know of a family in need of food items.
When can I receive a grocery pack?
Grocery packs are distributed every Monday at all school sites except Fletcher Hills Elementary, Lemon Avenue Elementary, Murdock Elementary and Northmont Elementary from 11 am – 1 pm. Drive thru or walk up service is available.
Kempton Elementary and La Presa Elementary offer Monday night grocery distribution from 4 pm – 6 pm for families who are unable to pick up their grocery pack during regular distribution hours. When a holiday falls on a Monday, distribution will occur the following day of that week on Tuesday. Each child is eligible to receive one grocery pack per week.
What if a parent/guardian is unable to go to the school for the Monday distribution?
If the Monday distribution is not possible for the family, please contact the kitchen or school office and they will prepare a 7 day grocery pack available for pick up.
What type of food is in the grocery pack?
Grocery packs contain 7 days of bulk grocery items for families to use at home to make meals. For example, items may include loaf of bread, turkey slices, cheese slices, assorted beef and chicken items, breakfast items and 1/2 gallon of milk. Fresh and/or canned produce and beans will be offered also.
I have multiple children. How many grocery packs will my children receive?
Each pack will contain enough food for each child ages 2 to 18 years old for 7 days.
How long will the grocery packs be available?
The US Department of Agriculture and the California Department of Education waivers allow free meals for all children ages 2 to 18 years old through June 2021.

Additional Guidelines: Only 1 meal bag per child is allowed. It is against USDA regulations to pick up meals at more than 1 school site.
