Loma is excited to be a part of the No Excuses University network. Through this work, we are committed to teaching a Standards-based, well-rounded education. The CCSS in Language Arts and Math and include critical thinking, problem solving, technology, and project based approaches to learning. We utilize data in making decisions regarding student supports, enrichment, and placement. All teachers work together to maximize student learning. In grades 3 though 6, students move between classrooms so that teachers can provide directed instruction targeted at individual student needs.
As always, safety is our primary focus. Loma scholars are taught that they need to ROAR.
Respect yourself and others
Ownership of your learning
Actively participate in your education
Responsible for behavior and performance
Bullying is not tolerated. Disciple assemblies will be held throughout the year to remind students of the importance of being “safe, healthy, respectful, and responsible” every day. Teachers have created systems of additional incentives for students that exemplify these Loma expectations inside and outside of the classroom.
Ultimately, you are the most important factor in your child’s education. We welcome your feedback and want you to work closely with the Loma teachers to meet the needs of your scholar. I encourage to get involved in whatever ways you can whether by volunteering on campus, participating in one of the numerous groups (ELAC, SSC, PTA), or asking your student what he/she learned that day at school.
If you ever have any questions, comments, or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with each and every one of you. This will be a great year, and I am truly fortunate to be a part of it.
