Welcome to Casa de Oro Elementary School! We are a family oriented, community school.  Our goal is to work together as a team to provide our students with a quality education in a safe and nurturing environment. Our theme for this school year is, “Be Here – Be YOU – Belong”.  We are a community of learners and a family. We ALL belong at CDO!

It is our belief that we all must have a growth mindset and do the work – teachers, parents, and students, if we are to succeed.  The entire staff here at CDO understands and believes that if a child is to learn that he/she must know that they are safe, know that they are wanted, and believe that they will succeed.  We believe that the relationship between the teacher and child is the key to maximize student learning and success.  We believe that ALL children can learn at high levels.

CDO’s teachers are committed to providing a rigorous, academic program in reading, writing, and mathematics by following the California Common Core Standards.  Science, history, art, and physical education are integrated into the curriculum as well.  Technology plays a big role in learning here at CDO and all classrooms are equipped with student iPads or Chrome Books to help connect us to our world and to make learning engaging and fun. This year we will be adding a “coding” component to our learning and are very excited about it!

Our staff believes that working with parents as a team is an integral part to a school’s success.  Parents are the most significant influence in their children’s lives.  Again, we must all “do the work” to raise happy, healthy, successful children.  We invite all parents to be involved by joining our P.T.A., attending school functions such as Back-To-School-Night and Open House, and by volunteering in the classroom. Parents can also help out by offering to serve on the School Site Council or English Learner Advisory Committee.

Casa de Oro has a Cougar Pledge that we say each morning.  Our Cougar Pledge teaches us to build peace in many ways such as: thinking positive, being kind, being responsible, righting our wrongs, and work on growing every day.  We also focus on building positive character traits such as respect, responsibility, honesty, perseverance, and kindness.
