Lemon Avenue Summer Update – July 26, 2020

Hello Lemon Avenue families! While I know this is not the summer any of as anticipated, I hope this call finds you and your family making the best of the time together and the beautiful weather we’ve been having!

I’m reaching out to ensure you are reading the parent letters that have come out from district leadership on both the 17th and 24th of July.  If you have not read them, I encourage you to visit the district or Lemon Avenue web page and click on the “Coronavirus” link to find them.

Given the guidelines set forth by Governor Newsom, we will now be beginning school on Thursday, August 27, and will begin the year with 100% online distance learning.  Childcare will be expanded through our ESS program beginning on August 10, and we will reopen our campuses as soon as possible, based on state and county health requirements.  I ask that you please read the July 24 parent letter thoroughly, as it provides beginning details regarding our robust distance learning program, as well as ESS information and a survey regarding your family’s technology needs.  To help us prepare, I ask that you complete the technology survey at your earliest convenience.

In the coming weeks, the staff and I will be working diligently to get you information on device and materials distribution, class assignments and details on distance learning schedules and support specific to the Lemon campus.  This planning takes a tremendous amount of work, as we are planning for a new school year unlike any other we’ve experienced.  While I may not have all of the details and information, you are always welcome to email me with any questions.

Please trust that this is as hard for me as it is for you. I think about school every day and miss the students and staff terribly. I hate uncertainty and not having the answers. However, I know that we are facing this together, and I take great comfort in that.  Thank you for your unwavering support of our students, our school and the Lemon community.

Have a fantastic evening.  It once again will be a great year to be a Lemon Leopard! --Mrs. Long
