School Announcements:

Announcements for Week of May 10

Hello Lemon Avenue Families! On behalf of the staff, I would like to sincerely thank you for the outpouring of gratitude and kindness for Staff Appreciation week.  We are so very lucky to be a part of this amazing school community, and appreciate each of you so much!  And thank you, PTA, for your organization of this super week.  You are awesome!

Our second virtual Book Fair of the year is taking place beginning Monday, May 10.  We are working hard to keep kids reading while raising funds for our school.  See the letter attached to the email version of this message for more information and a link to the virtual book fair.  The event will run from May 10 - 23.

Coming to school late is like walking into a movie at the theater late.  You are spending time having to catch up, dealing with the frustration of being late, and missing out on valuable information.

If your child has been tardy more than two times since we’ve returned to school, it’s time to reevaluate your morning routine.  Setting out clothing the night before, being sure backpacks are ready and devices are in them, and selecting the option of school lunch (it’s free of charge to all students) are ways to avoid being late.

Have a wonderful weekend, and a very Happy Mother’s Day to all of our Lemon moms, grandmas, aunts and important adults in the lives of our students.  It’s a great year to be a Lemon Leopard!

Announcements for the Week of May 3

Hello Lemon Avenue Families!

This is another friendly reminder that students participating in on-campus learning are expected to attend school in person every day, Tuesday through Friday.  Logging into Zoom is not an alternative option to being at school, unless a student is ill, quarantining, or there is a special circumstance that has been pre arranged with your child’s teacher.  We want students engaged in in-person learning after being in distance learning for so long.  Students don’t have materials when logging in from home, and it adds an additional layer of complexity for our teachers who are working so hard to manage the challenge of teaching simultaneously in person and online.  All students are also expected to log in each Monday for distance learning.  Thank you for your support.

Our amazing PTA is sponsoring Staff Appreciation Week, May 3-7. See the flyer below for ideas on how to show your appreciation to your child’s teacher, and staff, as well as daily Spirit Day Themes to show our Lemon Avenue school spirit!

Also linked below is information regarding our new academic diagnostic assessment tool for students in grades Kindergarten through sixth called iReady.  The letter explains how it will be utilized, and also provides dates and links for optional parent information sessions.

Announcements for the Week of April 5

Hello Lemon Avenue Families! I hope your family was able to spend quality time together during Spring Break.

Below you will find links to the two letters previously sent out during Spring Break.  The first provides details on our Welcome Back to Campus events, taking place the weeks of April 5 and April 12.

The second letter, originally emailed last week and posted on Dojo, provides preliminary details regarding our new reopening plan for four full days of in person instruction.  This letter includes information for ESS childcare.  Once the staff and I return to campus this week, we will meet to finalize details that will be then shared with you.

Teachers will continue to provide core instruction to students both in the classroom and at home in the morning, and will work with students on campus in the afternoon while those who remain at home will complete asynchronous, or independent, work.  Families who elect to continue online only instruction will maintain a schedule similar to what they have now.  Students who are returning to campus will come for the full school day, 8:00-2:20, rather than just afternoons, and will attend four full days per week, Tuesday - Friday.  There is no longer an option for only afternoons or two days per week.  Mondays will remain fully virtual to allow the classroom communities to connect together virtually, and to ensure appropriate planning and preparation time for teachers who will be teaching both in person and online through the remainder of the school year. Students will receive three hours of virtual instruction on Mondays.

I encourage you to re-read both letters, as I know the changing information can be confusing.  We are planning as we go with this uncharted territory, as this school year is unlike any that staff or families have experienced.  As always, we thank you for your patience, grace and unwavering support.

Finally, we still have not received the prizes and lists from Boosterthon from the Lemon Avenue Fun Run: Dance Edition.  Once we have, and items are ready to be picked up in the office, I will post a message on Class Dojo.

Have a super evening.  It’s a great year to be a Lemon Leopard!
