Welcome to Sweetwater Springs Community School! We are proud to be a California Distinguished School. Our staff is committed to providing our students with a challenging instructional program. We work together to ensure a high-quality learning experience in a nurturing and safe environment.

Sweetwater Springs’ primary academic focus is literacy in reading, writing, and mathematics. Learning activities are also integrated in history/social science, science, physical education, and the arts. The staff provides a balanced academic program to help all students have a happy and successful future.

We believe that parents are the most significant influence in their children’s lives. We want our parents to be involved to help us do the best job possible for our students. Parents can participate in many ways—as classroom volunteers, by attending Back-to-School Night and Open House, by participating in parent education activities, and by serving as members of the School Site Council and the PTA Board.

Sweetwater Springs is proud to be a PeaceBuilders school! As PeaceBuilders, we notice hurts, give up put-downs, right wrongs, praise people, seek wise people, and help others.
Throughout the year, we also emphasize developing specific character traits such as respect, responsibility, honesty, self-discipline, and perseverance.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions, compliments, or concerns. We’d love to hear from you!

Important Information:

Request for Student Clothing – Message From Health Office

Throughout the school year, students will come to the School Health Office because of accidents or spills. We have various sizes of clothing that a student can change into. By borrowing school clothing, a student can change and then go directly back to class. By doing this, the student misses only a small amount of instructional time.   We are in short supply of the following sizes and types of clothing:

  • Boys – Size 10 and up: Shorts, slacks, and shirts
  • Girls – Size 10 and up: Shorts, slacks, and long tops/t-shirts
  • Boys – Size 5-6 and 8-10: Shorts and slacks
  • Girls – Size 6-8 and 8-10: Shorts, slacks, and tops/t-shirts

If you are cleaning out closets and drawers and are getting rid of some clothing please consider donating any of the above items to the Sweetwater Springs School health office.

If you have questions, please call Diane Kirschenman, Health Technician, at (619) 668-5895 (x3789)

Be On Time!

Entering School Grounds Procedures

After 8:10 am you must sign in at the office to enter the gates. If your child arrives after 8:00 am you must sign your child in at the office and they are considered tardy. At the end of the day, please wait outside the gates until the 2:20 pm (1:05 pm Tuesday) bell rings. Please park in the lot and not in the pick up/drop off lane in the front of the school. You must remain in your car in front of the school if you are in the drop off/pick up lane. Never use the bus lane on the side of the school between 7:30 am and 7:55 am and after school. This area is for buses only.

Treats for the Classroom

Parents, please check with your child’s teacher before bringing food to school to share with the classroom. Only store bought food can be brought in to share and items with peanuts are never allowed.  Thank You!

Parking Lot Safety

Parents, please drive carefully as you drop off and pick up your child. Student safety is extremely important and we ask for your diligence in our front parking lot to help ensure all our SWS students are safe. Double parking (parking behind parked cars) and parking in red zones is not allowed in the lot because it creates an unsafe situation as drivers attempt to maneuver through the busy lot. Watch your driving speed and be cautious – Thank you for your continued consideration.
