School Site Contacts
Because the ESSPN program is housed within the Extended School Services (ESS) program, your primary point of contact is your school’s ESS Site Lead, rather than a specific coach.
Why contact the Site Lead? While our coaches are dedicated to the team, they often change from season to season or are in class during the day. Our Site Leads provide consistent leadership and are the best resource for immediate answers regarding practice cancellations, paperwork, or on-campus logistics.
Hours of Operation: You can reach your Site Lead by phone during ESS operation hours:
- Mornings: 6:30 AM – 8:30 AM
- Afternoons: 1:30 PM – 5:30 PM (Monday – Friday)

Program Leadership

Trinell Lewis
LMSV Title: ESS Supervisor
About Me:
I started my journey with ESS back in 2013. Since 2014, I have served as an official and spent nearly a decade on the sidelines coaching in ESS Sports, enjoying a good bit of success along the way. In 2021, as our community emerged from the pandemic, I was allowed to help build upon the foundation that was ESS Sports. What was created is our district’s free sports program, the ESSPN Sports League. Over the last three years, I have transitioned from the field to the front office, first managing day-to-day operations and mentoring staff, and now serving as the driving force behind the league’s organization.
My goal is to build a high-quality, free youth sports experience that meets the expectations of our community. Building the kind of league we wish we had growing up as kids. I am committed to introducing our students to the joy of team sports and the character-building lessons that come with them.
League Role:
As the program Supervisor, Trinell “steers the ship” for the entire ESSPN league. He oversees the complex logistics that keep the season moving, from coordinating district-wide transportation and game schedules to securing athletic fields. By organizing coach trainings and supporting overall program management, he ensures that the league’s vision is executed seamlessly for our community.

Gage Sanders
LMSV Title: ESS Assistant Lead on Special Assignment
Bio:
Hello! My name is Gage Sanders, and I am proud to serve as the ESSPN Facilitator for our district’s youth sports programs. I have been a dedicated member of the ESS team since 2018, working across several schools to ensure our programs run smoothly while fostering a positive, empowering environment for every student. Outside of my work in student programs, I am also a proud graduate of San Diego State University, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Biology.
With five years of coaching experience in basketball, football, and kickball, primarily at Parkway Middle and Murdock Elementary, my mission goes beyond the scoreboard. My coaching philosophy focuses on “Progress over Perfection,” ensuring every student feels confident regardless of their skill level. I always tell our athletes that sports are about perseverance: when things aren’t going your way, how do you overcome the obstacles? I encourage them to control what they can control: their attitude, effort, and mindset.
Having grown up in competitive youth basketball, I know firsthand that the skills learned on the court or field, discipline, teamwork, and resilience, stay with you for life. I love being a “bright spot” in our students’ day and giving back to the community that helped shape me.
When I’m not at school, you can usually find me on the court playing basketball with friends, hiking, or enjoying the outdoors. I also love catching up on the latest movies and shows. I look forward to a great season ahead. Please feel free to say hello if you see me at the game!
League Role:
Through his evident passion and dedication to our students, Gage serves as an Assistant Lead placed on special assignment to manage the day-to-day operations of ESSPN. He acts as a mentor to our coaching staff and a primary support for our student-athletes. From fielding family concerns to ensuring our fields are ready for play, Gage ensures the league runs smoothly.
