Parkway Middle School Physical Education
Welcome to Physical Education! The primary goal of Parkway’s Physical Education department is based on the premise that physical activity and participation are important for all student regardless of their level of athletic skill or ability. Through various activities, students in our program will learn how to incorporate physical activity into their daily lives. In addition, we hope to instill enjoyment of physical activity, as well as understanding the importance of maintaining physical fitness and living a healthy lifestyle.
BE ON TIME
Students must be on their designated roll call numbers when the bell rings. Students will have 10 minutes to change into their P.E. uniforms, use the restroom and to lock up their belongings. Failure to do so, will result in the enforcing of the school’s tardy policy.
Students should dress out in the Parkway Middle School athletic attire and participate daily. Uniforms are available for purchase on the school website. If student loses their uniform they can purchase more throughout the year or bring other clothes that are P.E. attire that we can put their name on.
Please be sure to wear proper footwear. It is a safety concern and required that students wear some form of athletic shoe. Failure to comply will result in a non suit.
CELL PHONES/LOCKERS/PERSONAL BELONGINGS
Per school policy, we will not tolerate cell phones during the school day. Students should not have their phones out in the locker room AT ANY TIME! If students have their phones out, they will be taken by the teacher and turned into the front office for parents/guardian to pick up after school.
Students will have a locker in the locker room where they can lock up all of their belongings while in P.E. class. It is their responsibility to make sure they are locking their lockers. If the lockers are not locked, the teacher is not responsible for any missing items.
Students will engage in a variety of activities during physical education. Cooperation and participation is a must in all activities in order to produce a fun and successful experience. Attitude is everything!
Students grades will be based on their daily participation grade, mile runs and circuit training.
-Circuit Training- 10%
We will run the mile every Tuesday and do circuit training on Monday’s.
ABSENCES/MAKE UP WORK/DOCTORS NOTE
If you are absent or know you are going to be absent, please let me know. You will not receive points for the days you are absent, but can make those points up by doing a make up assignment which are posted on the school website on my staff page. It is listed under “Class Handouts.” You may turn those in anytime up until the end of that quarter. You may do as many assignments as you need to make up those points. These can only be used for absences, not extra credit.
If you are injured or sick and need to be excused from P.E. please bring a note. If it is for a long period of time, please bring a doctor's note indicating the time that you will be out. If you are not feeling good just for that day, a note from your parents excusing you from P.E. that day will be acceptable.
One of the primary goals of the Parkway Middle School Physical Education Department is to provide a safe and comfortable learning environment where all students have the opportunity to thrive. In order to successfully do so, we ask that everyone think and act respectfully when pertaining to the teacher, peers, equipment and facilities.
THIS CLASS IS DESIGNED TO BE FUN! TOGETHER WE WILL LEARN POSITIVE AND RESPECTFUL BEHAVIORS, LEARN WHAT A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE ENTAILS, ALL WHILE ACTIVELY ENGAGING IN PHYSICAL ACTIVITY EVERYDAY!
I LOOK FORWARD TO A GREAT YEAR!
