    Dear La Mesa Dale Families,

It is with excitement that I introduce myself, Tammie Babbitt, as La Mesa Dale’s incoming Principal. I feel fortunate to be joining a staff that fosters a school culture focused on student learning and a commitment to high expectations. It is my intention to carry on these important practices in the coming years.

I began my career as an educator in 1998 right here at La Mesa Dale where I completed my student teaching through Point Loma Nazarene University and then served as a long-term substitute teacher in room 18. I couldn’t have possibly imagined then that I would be returning twenty years later as the Principal!  For twenty years I’ve worked in the La Mesa Spring Valley School District as an elementary school teacher, teacher coach, and most recently as Dean of Students at La Mesa Arts Academy.  My husband, Steve, and I have three children who all received a solid K-8 educational foundation in La Mesa Spring Valley Schools.  In every role, my priority as an educator is to ensure students are engaged in learning at high levels in a safe environment every day.

An excellent education is not possible without the collaboration of students, parents, and staff. As the old African Proverb states, “It takes a village to raise a child.”  What stands out to me when I am on La Mesa Dale’s campus is the enthusiasm and pride for the school and community - on the part of both students and staff. It is with that same enthusiasm and pride that I look forward to becoming part of the La Mesa Dale community.  It can’t be easy to say goodbye to a passionate and caring leader like Mrs. Rabasco.  I know she has been an integral part of your school community for many years now.  I want to honor her work and continue to build on the great things you have accomplished together - working with each of you to continue a path towards great success for each and every student at La Mesa Dale.

I am excited to begin working with your children, and I look forward to the work we will do together. I cannot wait to share with you the great things they accomplish here at La Mesa Dale. And of course I am here to work together with you should they need help navigating any part of the school day.

I look forward to meeting you soon.  My door will be open.  Please feel free to contact me with questions, concerns, or just to introduce yourself.  I look forward to earning your trust and respect as we work together to guide your child towards lifelong learning and achievement Let’s make the 2018-19 school year fantastic!

     Enjoy your summer!

    Respectfully,

    Tammie Babbitt

    2018-2019 Principal, La Mesa Dale
