Campus Access for Parents
Beginning this Monday, August 20th , adults waiting for students at dismissal time will be asked to wait in the Tiger Zone area on the front lawn near the office. We hope this area is a relaxing and pleasant community space for all our families to wait for their children when the bell rings. We appreciate your focus on this new parent access to campus policy as it is intended to help us have a safe environment for students at the end of the school day. See comprehensive, detailed information about the new dismissal procedures at Avondale that are being provided to all families at Back to School Night (Dismissal Procedures Map).
Join the Cast...Be An Avondale Star
PTA is setting up a long list of activities and initiatives to support all our students here at Avondale this year. We appreciate all the hard work, creativity and support from all our PTA volunteers. This year's theme is Be A Star. Information has gone home in first day packets and is available in the office if you would like to become a member, sign up to volunteer for activities and/or donate to the programs PTA supports.
La Mesa Spring Valley Schools has a comprehensive student wellness policy which outlines what, how, and who can serve and provide food for our students. The policy is designed to with the benefit of all students in mind. The complete wellness policy can be viewed on our District website (District Wellness Policy) . Sometimes families would like to bring snacks, food items etc. to school to celebrate special occasions such as birthdays. We ask that any food items you bring be in compliance with the District's wellness policy. Cakes, cupcakes, cookies, sugary beverages, etc. are not included in the items that are allowed to be distributed at school. There are many other ways you can help your child celebrate special occasions, and all our classroom teachers can help provide you with suggestions as well as directions on times and dates. The best way to ensure that food items are in compliance is to speak to your child's teacher in advance about any items brought to school for children.
Each Avondale student receives a Parent Bulletin to take home to their parents each Friday...
